Learning Outcomes:
After completing the STAR Lesson, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the connection between CPCC’s STAR Initiative and SACSCOC,
  • Describe how STAR impacts shared communication between students, faculty, and counselors and advisors,
  • Demonstrate how to use the Online Student Profile (OSP) for academic reporting, and
  • List resources that may be helpful for students in academic jeopardy.

"Shantell Strickland-Davis worked with me on developing an interactive, virtual workshop for training faculty for a new initiative at our College.  I was particularly impressed with Shantell's process of understanding the outcomes, ability to relate to the training's users (clients), and familiarity with the technological options.  Before beginning the project, she took the time to understand the initiative, the important components of the initiative, and to understand why and how the training would be utilized. Her foresight was invaluable in designing the content because we were able to fine-tune what was needed early in the process.  Shantell's ability to relate to my clients was obvious in her design of the slides and separation of the content into easily understood blocks of information.  I am still in awe of her familiarity with the technological options.  Oftentimes, I find that people use the latest technological tools even to the point of distraction.  That is not the case with Shantell.  She knows which tools best enhance a virtual workshop and which tools may impede the user as.  My group of faculty users have displayed an overwhelmingly positive response to the virtual workshop, so I would not hesitate to work with Shantell again."
